Here's what I have done so far of my bedroom re-do.
I know, I have done this so many times your heads are probably spinning =)
I can't help it...I get an idea in my head and I can't rest until I see it through.
Blue seems to be what's in my vision this time around so I have been looking for different shades of blues and browns. Still looking for a pair of curtains and something to hang on my old wooden gate.
As soon as I get a little more time I'll post some more picture on my picture trail.
Let's just hope I don't get another vision any time soon.

My Swap Goodies

Pam of "GoldieLoo Woodworks" was my secret Christmas swap partner this year in TDIPT's annual Christmas Swap.

This is what I received from her:

Pam, I placed your handmade checker board on the wall in my bedroom.

Your handmade Christmas word sign is hanging out in the entryway. Can you see the Merry Christmas ornament I placed at the top of the tree?

I placed all of the blackened beeswax snowmen, the big jingle bells, and your miniature handmade wooden signs on my primitive tree. I hope we get some cooler weather so I can put those red gloves to good use =)

I'd never seen the Bell Jar Candles before and I am so glad you included one in my package. You know I NEEDED that tin Santa note pad, (I'm at that point in my life were everything that I hope to remember should be written down) Can't wait to try the goats milk soap and lotion and as for the candy...well that didn't last any longer than to take a photo of it! As soon as I get myself some free time I'm going to mix up that dip and try some of that Caramel Apple Cider. Mmmmmmmmm!

No matter who Pam gets as a partner she is always over the top generous with her "givings".

I was so excited to see her name on the outside of my package and upon opening it I was more than pleased!

My L'IL Granddaughter's Room

Some of you know that when I moved into my Daughter's home, I gave up my sewing room so that my 8 year old granddaughter could bunk downstairs in my living space.

New Front Door

As the contractor was preparing to install the new door he said he noticed what might be termites.
My daughter got on the phone immediately and called Orkin. Orkin came rather quickly to discover they were only little black ants. (Thank goodness!) They treated us for the ants, but now we are going to have them come back and give us a treatment for termites.

Here is the new door all installed. Now all it needs is some paint!

I did a bit of decorating for Halloween outside but we are now getting a new front door, so it will have to come down until the new door is installed and then I probably won't want to put nails in the new front door. Ha!

Once my children became to old to trick-o-treat I just settled for a few decorations about the house and passing candy out to the neighborhood children.
Now that I live in the same home with my grandchildren I find myself getting back into the mode I was once in when my own children were excited for the day to arrive.

This year I am going to decorate the front yard and dress up as a witch to pass out treats.
My costume arrived in the mail over the weekend so now I am on the hunt for a pair of wicked shoes to go along with the costume. My favorites are the vintage "Granny Oxfords" with a thick heel. I sure hope I can find a pair that won't cost me an arm and a leg!

This past weekend I pulled out some of my Fall/Halloween decorations simply because I am so ready for the season. Below are a few pictures to share.

My mantle in the living room all ready to bring in the season. The Banner that reads"BOO" was made by my T.D.I.P.T. sister Ivonne of "The Crackling Crows". Her banners are addicting =)

Lily the frog was a swap gift from one of my T.D.I.P.T sisters years ago. Thank you "Miss Kitty"! Pam of "GoldieLoo Woodworks" made the beautiful Halloween sign you see behind Lily the frog. Pam and her hubby work together at creating such beautiful signs and gameboards.

I have several of these fantastic gourds that I purchased on Etsy from "Pinch Me Boutique". The owl was made by me.

I collect crows and here are two of my hand carved favorites resting in a large wooden trencher.

Oh how I love my little maple leaf doll made by my very talented T.D.I.P.T sister, Karin of "Countryfolk Keepsakes"!

My daughter, her family and myself took a little holiday to Orlando to check out Universal Studio's Harry Potter attraction.
I am not one for theme parks but I'll have to admit that I wanted to stay and live right there in Hogsmeade.
It was beautiful and the grandkids thouroughly enjoyed themselves.
It was hotter than heck but we spent 2 fun filled days there before going on to St. Augutine to visit relatives, do a little sightseeing and shopping.

THE "MAKE DO" ROOM

Upstairs in this split level home is where my daughter and her family live in all of their modern surroundings.
Downstairs is where I live in my colonial/primitive setting.
When I suggested that my youngest granddaughter come downstairs and take over my craft room as her new bedroom, so her little brother could have his own room upstairs, it was understood that I am into colonial/primitive.
She agreed that she would live primitively downstairs with me until our move next year.
I have been busy using what I have on hand to transform it into a childs bedroom.
It is what I am calling the "make do" room.
I am not yet completely finished but here are some photos of what it looks like so far:

I have already prepared my grandson's room for painting and as soon as I have his room complete I will share a few pictures.

Some Pictures To Share

If you remember I am living downstairs from my daughter and her family in their split level home.
The last time I blogged I promised to share pictures of my craft/sewing room.
Sorry I won't be sharing pictures of that room because I invited my youngest granddaughter to come down stairs and occupy that room so that her baby brother can take over her room. He is getting to be a bit too big to continue to share a room with Mom and Dad. He is pretty active and really needs his own space.
I don't mind my granddaughter coming downstairs to be with me. She and I get along royally, besides I get to decorate her room and her brothers room now!

I recently purchased four shutters, two chandeliers and a couple of smaller items which caused me to rearrange some things in my small space.
Below are pictures of the changes and new additions.
I sure wish I was a painter because I would paint several scenes in the square spaces on the shutters.

Here are pictures of my bedroom. I am still moving things around. I think I bought too many things with me from New York. My 3rd room is what I'm calling my everything room as it has all of the things that I could not bear to part with. I am using the 3rd room as my creating/sewing room too. I will share the 3rd room another time because it still needs a bit of tweaking. In the last picture is my latest prized possesion, my hand hooked rug. Marte of Boggy Creek Primitives did a FANTASTIC job hooking it for me. THANK YOU again Marte, I LOVE IT!

Pictures of My Little Space

As some of you know I moved from New York to Savannah to live with my daughter and her family here in Savannah. I have been trying to adjust to the hot weather here and no way have I missed the New York snow! Since my daughter does not to have a green thumb I have been busying myself in the front and backyard growning grass in bare spots, planting flowers and shrubbery. Today I am sharing a few pictures of my living room area. It is not complete as I am searching for a new loveseat to fit in this small space and hope to find one soon that speaks to me. Maybe you will notice some of the pieces that were in the 1840 house that I couldn't bear to part with when I made the move. Do you remember my fireplace mantle when it was in the 1840 house? It used to be dark brown and it was in my bedroom there. Here in my new space, I painted it a lighter color and it's new home is in my living room. Tomorrow I will share pictures of my bedroom.

Between gardening and grandchildren I have not had a moment to sit in front of the sewing machine and just sew. Oh I'm not complaining those are just two things that I love!
I hope to get back to sewing as soon as I get the yards in better shape. Below is my youngest grandchild, Aiden. He really keeps me moving!

I Still Exist

Hello Blogger Friends!
It's been a while since I've shared anything, I've just been trying to get settled into my new living space. I have moved things around several times and I'm still not sure if this is the look I'm going to settle upon.
It is a challenge for me to try and fit all of my treasures into such smaller living quarters.
I've gone from living in a 10 room home to living in 3 rooms of my daughter's home.
This is only a temporary living space until we move into our forever home.
I'm not sure where the forever home will be, it will depend on where my son-in-law finds a job after his retirement from the Army in 18 months. He is a pilot and would love to continue to fly.
As soon as I am happy with my decorating I will have pictures to share.
I have been reading up on a lot of your posts and it is so good to see your work and different projects around your homes.
I am especially happy that Spring is approaching which means planning a garden is in the near future.
I have not created anything in quite a while and I need to get busy!
Please send some inspiration my way.

OK, I've had it with trying to make the old barn door that I was so terribly excited over look presentable, so I had my friend make me a fireplace mantle out of old antique wood for my bedroom.
By the time I had it all painted I realized I hadn't taken before pictures.
Oh well, here it is almost all finished. I want to put a coat of wax all over it and maybe add a little more to the fireboard scene.

I worked on that old barn door of mine for days and the results are not very pleasing. Right now it just sits out in the carriage house. Not sure what I can do to make it right but I am not going to give up on it just yet.

OK, I know this may not excite some of you but I have been wanting an old barn door for years and I finally got one! YAY! I am going to clean it up and make it a bit more presentable. It is over 100 years old, has it's original hardware and look, someone painted their name on it and that's the side that will be showing. I'll post more pictures once I've got it all clean and polished. But for now here are the before pictures:

Here are pictures of the back porch after I moved things around. I added the bed so that someone could take a nap there if they wanted to.
Not sure if it will stay this way because each time I pass through, I keep saying to myself, "something just isn't right".

Today I felt like sharing recently taken photos. Above is a picture of the carriage house from the outside.

Below is a look at the carriage house from down stairs.
I really love how rustic it looks inside. One of my favorite features are the stained glass windows that were installed in the sliding barn doors.
I only took pictures of half of the downstairs. The other half houses the lawn mower, garden tools and such.(organized, but not a pretty sight)

This is just one of the new items I have for sale on my selling blog. This a a cute little replica of an old screened pie safe. It was made using antique wood , painted and made to look aged. Here are some pictures of the yard in bloom. I really enjoy flowers. So much that I can't ever decide just what to plant. I never plan a garden, I just grow what I like and that's usually a little bit of everything. Still waiting for that "Lupine" to bloom!

Balboa Park, San Diego

The stroll through San Diego's Balboa Park was a treat for me. The Spanish Colonial Revival Buildings were a beautiful sight to see. Besides open areas and natural vegetation, it contains a variety of cultural attractions including museums, theaters, gardens, shops and restaurants. It was so crowded the day I visited with booths set up to celebrate earth day that it was almost impossible to take pictures of all the beautiful sites, but here are a few.

Last week my son took my granddaughter and I to the Wild Animal Park but I didn't get to stay as long as I wanted so, I promised myself a walk up the hill to Balboa Park to visit(all by myself)the San Diego Zoo. I spent most of the day there just admiring all of those amazing creatures. Below are some photos I took.

Yesterday I walked down by the water and spent the day browsing Seaport Village.
Below are pictures of the area. My favorite attraction was "Unconditional Surrender," a 25-foot, 6,000 pound statue by world-renowned artist J. Seward Johnson commemorating a famous World War II photo of a sailor kissing a nurse.

When ever I exit my son's building and look down the street to the left I can see what appears to be staduium seats. This is the direction I am walking in today to see just what that is at the end of the block.
Well what do you know it's the San Diego Padres Ballpark!

When my son got home from work he'd purchased tickets to see the Padres and the Braves. So it was a mother/son outing last night. It had been a long time since I was at a game and I loved the roar of the crowd!

I have been having too much fun here in San Diego!
Spending time with family is a JOY!

I've been wined and dined at some very nice places. Two of my favorites so far Is "Mr. A's" restaurant and a dessert bar called "Extraordinary Desserts".

I've spent the day at the children's museum with my middle granddaughter, shopped at Horton Plaza, walked and explored the downtown area, lunch at a sushi restaurant and the hustle and bustle of people to and fro is quite exciting!

I even had time to stop in the bookstore and I am happy to say I found a copy of "Prims" magazine! Yay! It's beautiful and I am so honored and pleased to say that some of my dear TDIPT Sisters are featured in Prims! Congrats Sisters, you all are awesome!

I am here in San Diego staying with my son until his wedding date.
I stepped out onto his balcony to take a few pictures of the view and although the view is amazing I am not comfortable with height so after just a couple of shots I ran back inside.
I've already been to Horton Plaza Mall and had dinner at a sushi restaurant downtown.

No matter what our kids and the new generation think about us,
WE ARE AWESOME !!!!
OUR LIFE IS LIVING PROOF !!!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.

They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered
with bright colored lead-base paints.

We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes,
we had baseball caps
not helmets on our heads.

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.

Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.

We ate cupcakes made with BUTTER or Ghee white bread, and Red Meat. We drank FLAV- OR- AID made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight. WHY?

Because we were always outside playing....that's why!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on..
No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were OKAY.

We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps
and then ride them down the hill,
only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We did not have Play stations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's,
no surround-sound or CD's,
no cell phones,
no personal computers,
no Internet and no chat rooms.

WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We would get spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping pong paddles, or just a bare hand and no one would call child services to report abuse.

We ate worms and mud pies
made from dirt, and
the worms did not live in us forever.

We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.

Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team.
Those who didn't had to learn
to deal with disappointment.

Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best
risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever.

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. What can kids today do besides push buttons..

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.

If YOU are one of them, CONGRATULATIONS!

You might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up as kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our lives for our own good.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it ?

I had this old beadboard panel sitting in the basement and promised myself to clean it up and paint something on it.
Well the day finally came and I decided I wanted to try my hand at painting an old trade sign.

Three of my recently purchased favorites: An antique floor runner that I found for $22 was too ratty for the floor so I washed it and cut it to fit my little antique childs bed.
The Folk Art Box was made by someone out of an old fruit box. I found it at an antique store for $20.
I almost walked right past the old bonnet at the antique mall. Something made me go back to check on something I'd just looked at and behold there it was for only $10

I consider myself very fortunate to be a part of our TDIPT group of sisters. Not only are they always there for each other, but their heart for giving is extra generous.

Today I received my Christmas swap package from Carol Roll of "Carol Roll Nostalgic Folk Art."

She is a super talented artist, whose folk art always puts a huge smile on my face.
If you are not familiar with her work it would be a worthwhile visit to her website.
The pictures just don't do her creations justice!

IN HONOR OF THOSE WHO SACRIFICED

I just wanted to say how honored I am to know that there were and are so many men and women who risk everything so that others can have a chance at a free, safe and peaceful way of life.

Thank You Scott. My Dear Son-in Law who just last week left his family to spend yet another year away in Afghanistan.

You are the bravest person I know.

Oh Boy! Here goes...after prompting from one of my T.D.I.P.T sisters I am going to attempt this blogging thing. Let me begin by telling you a bit about myself. I LOVE country primitives, antiquing and old houses with lots of character! I create folk art dolls and prim items for your home. I have only been creating for about 4 years now and it is only one of my passions, my biggest being my family. I lived, worked and raised 2 children in California most of my adult life. When thinking about retiring my closest and dearest friend Diane and I decided we'd do this together and started looking on line for desirable places to live. My daughter played a part in this too and sent us lots of housing possibilities. Atlas! We found the one we thought we couldn't live without so Diane, her husband Brent, and I flew out to New York to take a look. We were so excited only to find out that sometimes pictures are not what they seem. Since we were only going to be there for the weekend we took it upon ourselves (without the realtor) to browse the area. Just when we thought our venture was all for not we happened across the house we live in now. We sent Diane to knock on the door to see if we could possibly get a look inside. The owner was happy to have us come in. From that point the process began and here we are. I am very happy to be able to call this place home.

It was Summer when we arrived and since then the shutters have been removed and new paint colors appeared. This quaint little village here in upstate New York where we chose to settle has lots of history and one of the biggest draws are the friendly people. I just love it here!
